A common question people have is, when should I start to see results from my campaign? With Organic results in the search engines (the free listings in the search engines), results are not instantaneous. If you have a time sensitive promotion, then you should also consider incorporating Pay Per Click to market your products and/or services as you can control exactly how much your site will come up in the sponsored listings.
In the early stages of your campaign, it is highly advised that you use a combination of SEO and PPC if your budget will allow so. If you only have the budget for one, please read our article on SEO or PPC, to help you choose which would be better.
For New Websites
For a new website starting out, it will take time for results to start happening. First it will depend on the actual competitiveness of the industry that you are in and now many other competitors are in your field. The higher the number, the more competitive it will be. One thing to remember that is search engine results will not happen overnight. With organic search engine optimization, there’s a delay factor that comes into play. It takes time to gain quality incoming links for sites, and once these links are present on sites and/directories, then we have to wait for the search engines to then re-index these pages for the Search engines to see that you are listed. So as you can see, there’s a natural delay factor with organic SEO results. A lot of waiting and patience is needed.
For Established Websites
For more established websites, results will happen faster. It will always depend on the keywords that you are targeting. The more competitive the keyword’s, the longer it will take. But for the most part, you can start to see an inflow of traffic to your site at a much more timely manner than new sites. You can start seeing changes in as little as a few weeks to over a month or so, depending on the size of your site and how often your entire website gets re-indexed by the search engines.
What Other SEO Factors are Involved?
First, how competitive are your search terms? The more competition for a keyword phrase in the search engines, the longer it will take. We take this into consideration when taking you through the keyword analysis and find the best keywords for your campaign and use a custom dual approach that will cover your short and long term goals.
Second, is your site search engine friendly? The less SE friendly your site is, it can add to the time that it takes to get your site to the top of the results.
Third, how many quality incoming links do you have compared to your competitors? You could have the best finely tuned website, but if you have no quality links coming in to your website, then with the organic SEO listings, there is very little chance that you will rank high. The more competitive the industry, generally the more incoming links you will need to start showing in the search engines.
Fourth, What is the size of your site versus your competition? If your competition has 200 pages on their site, and your site only has 5 to 10 pages, more quality pages will need to be created. The larger your site, the more an authoritative the search engines will see your site.
Expect to See SEO Results Within 6 to 12 Months
Generally with SEO, we are looking to 6 to 12 months of when to expect to see results. More established websites will see results in a more timely manner. This is a general time frame of when a website will start to see increases to traffic and leads for example,
While there are many factors involved that are not mentioned here, these are just some of the main areas of concern, and most importantly, you’ll need to have a lot of patience!
