Google
:: Google Local Search for Canada
Google local search for Canada is a great way for the smaller businesses get noticed
on the internet, and help people find the products and/or services
that much easier.
Ever since Google release its local search in the United States, I
have been waiting for it to be implemented for Canada. Google local
works with the Yellow Pages data to help pinpoint
the local resources you are interested in finding.
How to get listed or update your outdated
information
To add your business listing to Google Local, send an email to
local-listings@google.com.
Google Local gathers information from a range of
sources including websites and Yellow Pages directory. To update
your business listings in the Yellow Pages, you can send an email to
local-listings@google.com.
Additionally, if your Yellow Pages information is outdated, you can
also contact the yellow pages directly as well.
I think this is going to be a great avenue for small
and medium sized businesses get more qualified traffic from the
internet, and it will make searching the dreaded the Yellow Pages
that much easier. Google Local is still in the beta version, so you
may find some results that do not match up properly. Incase that
happens you can email them your findings.
On To Canadian Search Eh!
| Just a quick note, make sure you read the additional information for each of the following, you will discover just how truly Canadian the Canada only results are! |
Google Canada Search :: http://www.google.ca/
Additional Information: To further refine your results when searching for Canadian websites online, choose the option "pages from Canada". This will help narrow the results down somewhat. Websites with the domain extension .ca will show up, also any website hosted on a Canadian IP address will also show higher in the results, including websites from other countries.
Google Local Canada Search :: http://www.google.ca/local
Additional Information: The Good thing about Local search is that it will only return results from that area, so you don't have to worry about getting similar results as with Google.ca search with non-Canadian websites.
Yahoo! Search Canada :: http://ca.search.yahoo.com/
Additional Information: The results are similar as with Google.ca results, if a website is hosted in Canada (on a Canadian based IP address), it will qualify as a Canadian website no matter where the actual company home-base is.
