Google Launches Free Web Analytics Program
Back in March 2005, Google purchased the popular web
analytics company Urchin. It wasn't quite sure what Google's
plans were for their newly acquired purchase, but as of Monday
November 14th, Google has launched Google Analytics and its
free.
The free version caps your user views at 5 million per month,
so its still a great deal. To get unlimited views, all you have
to do is have an active Google Adwords Account.
This is surely going to affect a lot of other Web Analytics
programs out there especially any new starts ups for sure, as
well as the more established companies could notice a change as
well.
Oddly enough, I'm seeing similarities between Google and
Wallmart. With Wallmart in its quest to expand in virtually
every market possible, in the smaller towns/cities, a new
Wallmart can mean disaster for the small mom and pop stores, and
as a lot of you may have seen from personal experience, a lot
don't manage to survive due to the size and competitive pricing
that Wallmart is able to offer.
With Google and their latest expansion with Google Analytics,
this is surely going to have a negative effect on the smaller
web analytic companies for sure. Its certainly hard to compete
with a free offer that gives you so much data.
So, that being said, there's no reason for any site now not
to embrace web analytics with their site(s) now that its free?
Still, it is worth it to check out the other top Web Analytic
companies. Many of them offer trial versions and they could be
the better solution for that extra fee.
Below are just a few web analytics solutions that you may
want to look into. Benchmark tracking and web stat are both
monthly subscriptions and very affordable with no long term
commitment. If you don't want to give Google your data, and are
not ready for a purchase with Click Tracks or Web Trends,
Benchmark tracking and web stat would be worth testing out.
