Yahoo & AOL to Start Charging for Emails?
Spam like the Flu,... Seems there's no Real Cure....

Date: February 06,2006

Today I was checking the news and once again there are talks about Yahoo and AOL starting to charge for sending emails if you want it to bypass the spam filters and go straight to the inbox, some sort of stamp. This is the latest attempt to help stop spam.

Currently, this is an option that they are proposing, so at least its not mandatory. If it was mandatory it would be very interesting to hear people's reaction.

Maybe Its Time to Start Calling People More...

The next thing that came to mind was, it is probably time people start calling each other again. Even if it is long distance, you can get vonage to call anyone in North America for a reasonable price, and I'm sure there are other similar services available.

Yahoo Email Issues

With my personal email address with Yahoo, it wasn't until they introduced a beta email system that I've started to see an increase in spam to my email. I'm partly blaming it on the preview plane that comes up, even after you've set your preferences for it to not come up, and if a spam email gets through and they're tracking it in any sort, there's probably a better chance they've known the email was opened (not by choice I must say).

No Real Cure?

So this leads to the next question, is it in their better interest to keep the email inboxes totally spam free? If so then why would anyone need to pay to send an email. I guess spam is like the flu, there's no real cure to totally get rid of it. If you can't beat it, why not try and profit off of it. At times it seems this is what its coming to.
